Three and a half years after joining the John Schofield Trust as CEO, David Stenhouse is now leaving our small charity

During his time with us David has been committed to our mission of encouraging social mobility in the journalism sector throughout the UK.

Founder of the Trust, Susie Schofield, says: “David was a welcome addition to the Trust when he first joined us in 2021 on what was initially a year’s secondment from the BBC taking on the newly created role of CEO.

“He has been an ambassador for the Trust and has nurtured and extended our networks. Under his leadership, the Trust expanded as a charity in Scotland and Ireland and the number of journalists we support has grown.

“David helped to launch two new schemes: our university mentoring service for undergraduate journalism students and Journalism Cares, our pilot mentoring programme for journalists who have experience of life in care and introduced Reach, DC Thomson, News UK and PA Media as new supporters.

“I am grateful for all he has done for the Trust during his time with us and his care of our Fellows. Together with the board of trustees, I wish him every success in the future.”

The current Fellowship Manager, Howard Littler, will step up into the newly created role of Director.
