We are pleased to announce that Howard Littler has taken on the newly formed role of Director of the John Schofield Trust following the departure of CEO David Stenhouse.

Howard joined the Trust in November 2021 as Fellowship Manager and has been instrumental in setting up and managing our successful university partnerships programme and overseeing the growth of the early career mentoring scheme.

Howard says: “The John Schofield Trust has become the go-to place for early career and aspiring journalists from low-income or diverse backgrounds looking for world-class mentoring. I’m delighted to lead the charity into its next chapter and want to thank all of our wonderful volunteer mentors, donors and trustees in advance for their support.”

Founder of the charity, and interim chair of trustees, Susie Schofield says: “Howard has been with the Trust for nearly three years and has hands-on experience managing our programmes, liaising with volunteers and supporting our Fellows. I am pleased that the Trust remains in capable hands.”

Before joining the Trust, Howard worked in higher education, where he spent a decade overseeing projects focused on empowering young people to be powerful advocates. While a senior manager at Goldsmiths, University of London, he was responsible for management of the membership-facing teams in the Students’ Union, notably including projects focused on under-represented students.
