Support us to support tomorrow’s journalists

Today’s leading journalists as they were. Everyone has to start somewhere: can you help us support the journalists of the future as they embark on their journey? (From top left: Lyse Doucet, Nick Pollard, Secunder Kermani, Jon Snow, Alex Crawford, Rob Osborne, Simon Vigar, Julie Etchingham)

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is back, which means that when you donate to us this week your money will be automatically doubled.

We’re working to raise £32,000 to run a pilot programme for undergraduates who want to enter journalism – establishing a vital bridge to help candidates from diverse and under-represented backgrounds enter the profession. We want to build on our strong track record of supporting diversity in journalism, and believe that a mentor-based scheme for university students will help to broaden the pipeline of talent entering the industry.

For the next week we’re taking part in the Christmas Challenge, a match-funding campaign run by The Big Give. For one week only, from now until midday on Tuesday 6 December, every penny donated via our Christmas Challenge page will reach us doubled.

Thanks to our generous match-funders – Martin Lewis, Knight Ayton Management, former trustee Kate Riley, trustee Susie Schofield, The Reed Educational Trust and Frontinus – every gift will be doubled at no extra cost to the donor!

We need to raise £16,000, which will reach us doubled to £32,000, with Gift Aid and any further donations received on top. If you are in a position to support our vital work please consider donating here and help us give today’s students the support they need to become tomorrow’s leading journalists.

With thanks for your support,

David Stenhouse, CEO
