Ravneet, a 2022 Fellow, received the RTS Southern Award for On-Screen Newcomer for her work with ITV Meridian.

Of her time with the broadcaster, Ravneet says, “I had the best four years with them; it’s where I learnt the foundations of being a journalist and they’re one of the best teams I will ever work with! I’ve made life-long friends there.”

Ravneet was commended for her work on fast fashion and diversity in the countryside, and for coverage of the covid-19 pandemic within people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.

Winning the award came as a surprise, she says: It was a complete shock! I’m so glad the judges were able to see the heart and passion I put into the stories I love, focusing on giving a voice to the underrepresented communities. Thank you to the judges and ITV Meridian for putting me forward for the award.”

She now works as a Senior Production Journalist for ITV Central in the Midlands and is looking forward to the next stage of her journalism career with anticipation.
