2021 mentee Aisha Zahid has taken great career strides over the summer!

Aisha has been kept on at Sky News as a TV reporter after completing her apprenticeship and gaining a distinction in her NCTJ diploma.

She says: ‘Over the past two years I’ve been lucky enough to work with a number of amazing teams in the newsroom – from planning to mobile.

‘The past twelve or so months for me have focused on TV reporting and it’s a dream come true to be able to continue doing this. I’ve been involved in Sky’s coverage on a range of stories so far, including coverage on Afghanistan, the migrant crisis and more recently the supply crisis. I’m incredibly excited for what is yet to come!

Meanwhile, Aisha has also been shortlisted for two Asian Media Awards: she’s up for Outstanding Young Journalist, as well as Report of the Year. She is joined in the Outstanding Young Journalist category by her fellow 2021 mentee Alyshea Chand.

Aisha says, ‘I’m really grateful to be a finalist in both these categories alongside some incredible journalists.’
