Journalism Cares – donate now to support our new programme

We’re raising money through the Big Give to support our new programme Journalism Cares.

What is Journalism Cares?

Journalism Cares is a unique and new programme for care experienced young people, to support their ambitions to get into journalism.

Once funded, the programme will invite care experienced young people who have an interest in journalism for:

  • 1-2-1 individual mentoring from a senior journalist who works in an area they have an interest in;
  • Two newsroom visits and an opportunity to shadow a working newsroom;
  • Fortnightly masterclasses focused on journalism skills such as interviewing techniques, research tools, effective copywriting, using social media etc;
  • CV and portfolio help from newsroom managers and recruiters;
  • And all of the networking and other opportunities that come from being a John Schofield Trust Fellow.

Why and how to donate

During the Big Give, every penny you donate will reach us DOUBLED, and help us achieve our goal of supporting care experienced people with the practical skills and advice they need to forge a career in print, digital or broadcast journalism. You can give via this page.

Supporters

We thank our match-funders this year: Knight Ayton Management, News UK and Ireland, Kate Riley and Robin Lustig.

Our appeal is supported by some amazing journalists with care experience themselves. Here’s a video from our current Fellow Sophia Hall.
