2021 mentee Kirstie O’Mahony is joining BBC Newsround as a journalist from 11 October.

Kirstie will be working part-time with the team until Christmas, and for her, it’s a dream come true.

Kirstie says: ‘Newsround was a huge part of my childhood, as I’m sure it was for many others. Watching the programme after school ignited my passion for journalism, and I’m so excited to be even a small part of it for the rest of the year!’

On the days she’s not with the Newsround team, Kirstie, who is mentored by 5 News’ Simon Vigar, will continue to produce topical articles for BBC Bitesize.
