We are looking for supporters to help us give more talented young journalists the chance to develop their career through our mentoring scheme.
The John Schofield Trust relies on income from grants, sponsorship and charitable donations. Every donation received enables the Trust to help support young journalists. We want to expand the mentoring scheme in the future to help more young journalists but to do this we will need more funding. If you are able to help, please contact the Trust’s Manager Catherine Farmer.
The Trust is grateful to BBC News, CNN, the Garfield Weston Foundation, ITV News, Sky News, as well as Martin Lewis and Robin Lustig for funding our mentoring work.
The Trust is very grateful for the continued support of our friends and colleagues throughout British journalism who support our work.
John Schofield was a much loved and respected young journalist. His death was mourned in newsrooms throughout the world.
John is remembered as a welcoming and supportive colleague in an industry which is notoriously hard to break into. John’s widow, family and friends wanted to commemorate John in a meaningful way which would reflect his friendly and generous spirit.
