2022 Fellow Áine O’Donnell has joined Newsbeat which broadcasts on BBC Radio 1, 1xtra and Asian Network.  

Áine told us it is her dream job, “Newsbeat was my access point for the BBC and growing up, it was where I always wanted work”.  

“My mentor Nic Keaney gave me the confidence to apply for top roles. I wouldn’t have pushed myself to dream big without the help and guidance provided by those at John Schofield Trust”.  

Áine has already been on the Newsbeat airwaves as part of their Peace Babies special about the anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.  

She started her career at the BBC at Radio Foyle before joining 5 Live as a producer. She left 5 Live as a senior journalist after three years working on the network’s late-night programmes.
