2021 online mentoring scheme starts

NTU experience day for e-mentees

Today we launch a third round of online mentoring for sixth form students interested in a future career in journalism with the mentoring charity, Brightside

Brightside logo A total of 43 sixth formers who live and/or study in Cardiff, Cornwall, Manchester, Nottingham and Sheffield will be mentored by journalists from 5 News, BBC News, Channel 4 News, CNN, Falmouth University, ITV News, KentLive and Sky News as well as former mentees and our trustees. Each student will receive 12 weeks of online mentoring, access to masterclasses, learning resources and a university experience opportunity.

Here’s what a previous e-mentee said: ‘It’s reassuring to know that I could go into journalism with any degree and that having a passion for it is the main thing… It’s been great to talk to someone from such a diverse background, it makes me realise that your differences are what makes you stand out and that can be an advantage in lots of situations’.

Welcome to our online mentees from: Coleg y Cymoedd, Whitchurch High School, Cardiff High School (Cardiff), The Carlton Academy and Nottingham College (Nottingham), High Storrs School, Silverdale School, Notre Dame High School (Sheffield), Callywith College and Truro College (Cornwall) and The Manchester College.
