Windrush report forefronts women’s voices

2023 Fellow Thomasina Jordan-Rhodes and Senior Fellow Ayshah Tull both worked on a new Channel 4 News piece about women of the Windrush generation.

The short film contains interviews with three women of the Windrush generation who arrived in Liverpool more than half a century ago and are still fighting for justice.

Senior Fellow Ayshah Tull presented the report, which was produced by 2023 Fellow Thomasina Jordan-Rhodes.

Thomasina said, “History is so often told with men at the forefront, overshadowing women and repeatedly writing them out of the record books. Getting regional, female voices to speak about their first hand, first generation experiences was imperative for me.”
