Congratulations to Channel 4 News reporter and former mentee, Symeon Brown, who has won the Criminal Justice Alliance (CJA)’s Outstanding Journalism award for reporting inequalities in the criminal justice system.
Symeon was nominated because his reporting strives to consider what justice means in a system that is riddled with inequalities. He uses accessible language for a mainstream audience and humanises the people swept up in the criminal justice system’s inequalities.
Symeon says he is ‘grateful to my producers, cameramen and senior editors for allowing time to do the work. Most of all thanks to those who shared their stories of life inside a system which simply is not working.’
