Sophia Hall (2023) will join the editorial team as Deputy Digital Editor of the Big Issue.
Sophia told us, “I’m thrilled to be jumping back into a mainstream newsroom that has such a central focus on social justice. It means a lot to me to be part of this team, especially considering that 4.5 years ago I was actually featured in the magazine talking about how I wish the media would represent care experienced people better. Now I get to help make that happen.”
Sophia was featured in the Big Issue originally after winning the Coram Voices writing competition in 2019 (original article below).
Sophia is currently being mentored by the BBC’s Culture and Media Editor, Katie Razzall, as part of the 2023 Early Career programme. She is one of the key supporters of ‘Journalism Cares’ – our new mentoring scheme for care experienced young people launching later this year.
