Sean, a 2022 Fellow, produced and presented the documentary “The Travelling Speech Therapist” for the BBC World Service.
The programme – available here – follows speech therapist Mary Weinder who travels to the Turks and Caicos islands, where there are no therapists, to treat children.
The documentary has been well received, which is especially pleasing for Sean given its subject is rooted in his own personal background: “I had speech therapy for much of my life and began talking around 8,” he says; “The driving force behind the documentary is to raise awareness of the need for speech therapy around the world, as well as the hard work of speech therapists and people with speech disorders.
I was really happy the program got more awareness, making it onto Radio 4’s Pick of the Week!”
