2022 Fellow Maria Zaccaro has just joined the BBC South Online Team as a journalist. 

Maria will cover the South of England and produce news stories for the BBC website. Previously she worked as a local democracy reporter in Southampton.

She said: “I am very excited to have joined the BBC and I am very much looking forward to telling stories that matter to people. I have long admired the work BBC South does and I am very happy to be part of their team.

“My mentor Tom Rayner has already been very supportive and his advice has been incredibly important in the first steps of this new adventure. I look forward to the year ahead.”
