Insaf, a broadcast journalist at BBC News, was mentored by Clarissa Ward, chief international correspondent for CNN, in 2017-18. Insaf writes:

‘I work as a producer for the BBC, and at the time of joining the John Schofield Trust’s mentoring scheme in 2017, I had no on-air experience. Clarissa encouraged me to take on opportunities and to challenge myself.

Since then I’ve done live two-ways on BBC World Service radio, and more recently a video explainer for the BBC News website on Sudan’s ban of FGM. In it I discuss some of the long-term work that will need to happen to ensure the new law can be enforced successfully?’
