Finbarr said, ‘I’m extremely grateful to The Printing Charity for this award and the accompanying funding, which will allow me to access the training I need to further my career in journalism.
‘As a freelancer, it’s difficult to find funding for courses, so I really appreciate this opportunity.’
Finbarr has previously written for NBC News, BBC, Reuters, The European, VICE, Prospect and The Telegraph.
In February we featured his report for NBC News on the impact of COVID-19 restrictions on the LGBTQ+ community.
