2023 John Schofield Fellow Gergana Krasteva has been promoted to Senior Foreign News Reporter at Metro UK.

Gergana has been covering news in Eastern Europe and the Balkans, and focusing on Russia’s war in Ukraine.

She has reported from several countries, including Moldova and Georgia.

Gergana says: ‘I learnt so much from my fellowship last year and my mentor Gabriel Gatehouse was wonderfully supportive and continues to be.

When I told him I want to report on foreign news, he said: “Buy a ticket and just go”. Still, the best advice.’

Amrit has won ‘Apprentice of the Year’ at the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) Awards.

Amrit said “I’m very proud to see my hard work and commitment to become a trusted and well-rounded journalist recognised.

Olivia McCann has joined Sky News as an Output Producer, after working as Assistant News Editor for 5 News.

The Trust offers financial assistance and practical support to freelance journalists around the world. Jon joins the Rory Peck Trust after two decades in the news media. He was most recently Managing Director of RTE News and Current Affairs.
